Rui Da Silva has already had a busy 2007. Completing and releasing his artist album 'Praying Mantis' on '64 Records' (the sister label to his 'Kismet Records') at the back end of 2006, and releasing the first single 'Spreading Isolation/The Regressors' early this year, he has also had a DMC Club Chart Number 1 with his remix of Sugarmans 'The Riddle'. A track that has been used by Nokia to advertise its latest phone.
Whilst all this has been happening Rui has also been finalising the mix package for the second release from 'Praying Mantis'.
From the title, you may not know what to expect, as indeed did i. What you get in fact is a real treat! A track based around a killer groove, that fuses Rui's trademark minimal production with a beautiful bassline.
The mix package showcases some of the freshest talent of today. First up is head of 'Leftroom Records' Matt Tolfrey and Inxec (who also records under the B Pole alias), who have delivered what can only be described as a simply epic remix. Fit to grace the finest, most twisted of dancefloors!
Next up hailing from Berlin is live artist Ekkohaus, who, from his description on myspace describes his sound as \'mainly electronic sounds, repetitive grooves, clicks, deep bass and weird vocal recordings..... messy.' So i think u know what to expect!
OrtzRoka step up to the table next and deliver a mix that crosses the track to a wider audience, and for me, is there best work to date. They manage to enhance the groove whilst delicately weaving a subtle acid line throughout.
Then finally Rui steps up again to bring us 'Coming Back Into Focus'.... a sort of reprise on the Original.... Overall a supremely wholesome package of goodness!!!
